At my 11-year-old daughter’s Year 5 closing ceremony, I witnessed something rare and deeply affirming: A school that places character, values, and inner resilience at the centre of what it celebrates. This is a reflection on challenge, belonging, and what it truly means to be “the best we can be.”

Children are born with extraordinary instinct, curiosity, and embodied intelligence. But fear, overprotection, and early screen exposure can quietly cap that potential. This reflection explores how limitations are inherited — not through malice, but through love wrapped in fear — and why the earliest years matter more than we realise.

This small courtyard project became the first conscious expression of SATORI EARTH. Working alongside my daughter, we transformed a neglected patch of land into something lived-in and meaningful — beginning a relationship with place grounded in care, stewardship, and connection rather than appearance.

The issues go beyond sleep — it institutionalized families, breaking up natural tribal connection and a secure and natural sense-of-belongingness in children with their parents and family —— radiating outwards to/ destabilizing tribal solidarity and stability. 

Imagining how I would feel if my son chose a partner like me revealed something unexpected — the ways my strength, hardness, and overcompensation have shaped my parenting, and the deeper integration still unfolding between the Sacred Masculine and Feminine within me.
