Field Notes#2 from Singapore: The New Face of Self-Love
Updated: Sep 29

FIELD NOTES #2: Singapore — Day 8, IVF Va’a World Sprints 2026
Same ritual. I always look for a nice meditation nook when I travel. Here’s preparing for the next race this Friday.
Today, I’m cheering on our Masters 40 and Golden Masters 60 women — both coming through their repechages with leading times and proceeding to semifinals.
——— ———
And I’m sitting with something much bigger than racing.
I feel the world has gone through a noticeable shift these last five years.
The old thinking of ‘let’s go to the gym’ is increasingly being replaced by adopting an integrated training lifestyle. Which is what I’ve embraced.
There’s a big difference.
The ’90s+ had us thinking of “going to the gym” as a separate task added to life’s daily routine.
For me personally, that was separation.
What I see emerging now is integration.
Training is simply one visible example of a much larger shift:
— from compartmentalised self-care to integrated living — from performing “self-love” to actually organising a life around the needs and design of the whole organism.
——— ———
SOUL-EMBODIMENT
Soul-embodiment (ie your original Soul personality, before your acquired Human personality took up residence in your gravity suit) — which I believe is part of this emerging, and long-begging, model for sustainability — asks something different of us.
Not another thing to “do”.
But a different way to “live”.
Where training becomes part of life.
Rest becomes part of training.
Nutritious food, hydration, silence, meditation and movement become part of loving the organism.
Good psychic hygiene.
Positive discipline around what stimulus we allow into our system.
Saying yes to what feeds us and no to unhealthy overload.
Discernment around the company we keep.
Integrated living.

THE NEW FACE OF SELF-LOVE
And I see SELF-LOVE itself going through a major facelift.
The older model gave us meditation, yoga, holidays, massages, writing self-love notes on our skin.
All still valid.
But there is another layer underneath that.
Look at your original design.
Not simply your acquired human personality — but the inherent architecture you arrived here with, before family, culture, religion, education and social expectation asked you to deny or suppress facets of yourself.
What was naturally there?
The artist? The athlete? The writer? The healer? The thinker? The adventurer? The musician? The entrepreneur?
What did your organism naturally want to do, express and become — before somebody told you what was sensible, acceptable, respectable — or possible?
Then look at your life now.
How much of that original architecture is actually being lived?
And how much of it is starving?
Because the deeper proposition underneath all of this is:
The amount of ourselves we chronically suppress is the amount of life-force we remove from circulation.
Every part left unheard, unfed or underutilised requires energy to keep suppressed.
And I increasingly question what that costs us — physically, psychologically, creatively and financially — across a lifetime.
———
That, for me, is the new face of “Self-Love”.
Self-reclamation.
Listening deeply enough to recognise what the Soul needs — and then having the courage and discipline to actually feed it.
For me, this is part of the great divide I see emerging.
Inherited models of martyrdom, self-sacrifice, shame, guilt and pushing-through — versus models that actually sustain the human organism.
———
ASTROLOGY MIRRORS THIS MOVEMENT
Astrologically, I see this mirrored in:
Pluto’s movement from Capricorn ♑️ into Aquarius ♒️ — inherited structures and authority giving way to questions of collective evolution and sustainability — and
Neptune’s transition from Pisces ♓️ towards Aries ♈️, as old spiritual and religious structures are challenged to rediscover lived integrity.
Not astrology causing the shift.
Astrology mirroring it.
And perhaps the simplest expression of all of this is incredibly physical:
Human beings are designed to move.
Training embraced makes the organism SING. Training as a task to the mind becomes punishment.
When the whole organism is listened to — rested, hydrated, nourished, psychologically clear, challenged, loved and USED — something changes.
The system starts asking for it.
The body wants to move.
The Soul wants to participate.
You let the whole system SING.
That, to me, is Soul-embodiment.
And increasingly —
this is what Self-Love looks like.

WE ARE WITHIN ECLIPSES
SIGNIFICANTLY — we are right now in the window between eclipses.
The Total Solar Eclipse in Leo ♌️ on 12 August opened this eclipse passage — and tomorrow, Friday 28 August, we meet the Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces ♓️, reaching its maximum at approximately 2:13pm AEST.
Astrologically, the potency and grind of an eclipse is rarely confined to the eclipse itself.
We begin feeling and living the themes in the weeks leading into it. The material is already arriving. You can see it moving through your relationships, body, work, identity and circumstances — often before you understand what it is asking of you.
And the space between two eclipses can be particularly potent.
For me, this one has been about integration.
What has been learned intellectually now asking to be lived through the body.
What has been suppressed asking to return.
What no longer belongs asking to fall away.
And what is inherently ours asking to be reclaimed.
The eclipse itself is not necessarily the conclusion. Integration continues afterwards — sometimes for weeks, months, even years — as what surfaced reorganises and settles into lived reality.
Which makes the timing of everything I have been writing about here feel particularly significant.
Less performing a life.
More inhabiting it.
Less compartmentalisation.
More integration.
Less suppression.
More life-force returned to circulation.
That, for me, is the work.
